Black Lion Audio PM8. Summing in the analog domain is widely regarded as superior to mixing

Black Lion Audio PM8
Introducing the Black Lion Audio PM8 summing mixer. It features 8 channels of transformer-coupled inputs and three separate master outputs: a passive output, a transformerless output, and a transformer coupled output. It has mute, volume and pan capability on each channel, plus a DB25 connection to link a second summing box. Huge 3/4 watt bus resistors provide isolation between channels while minimizing the thermal noise typically found in a small format console bus. Grain oriented silicon steel input and output transformers lend a rich coloration to the sound by adding just a touch of low-order distortion below 250hz. It's like having a vintage console in your studio, but at a fraction of the price. It's exactly what you need to give your mixes that fat body you've been looking for.

Black Lion Audio AM/CHA1 EQ
Introducing the Black Lion Audio AM/CHA1 EQ. We’re all fans of inductor based EQ. While it doesn’t offer the surgical precision of its solid-state based gyrator circuit cousin, it has a wonderful musical quality that’s very natural sounding. Typically a good inductor EQ has, in the past, been rather expensive to purchase. A classic API or Pultec-based EQ will set you back a few thousand dollars for a stereo pair. Since we enjoy a good challenge, our goal was to develop a transformer coupled two channel inductor based EQ that could perform every bit as well as a high priced mastering-grade setup, but do it at a lower price. Since there are lots of Pultec clones out there, we wanted do develop something that was unique. We based it on what’s known as a state-variable filter, and built it around custom wound Cinemag inductors. We gave it overlapping frequencies within each set of frequency bands to enable flexibility and frequency correction when needed. We use the same grain oriented silicon steel transformers in the input and output stages to give the audio a nice vintage character, although amorphous core Lundahl transformers are available as an option for an additional charge. And since we have access to a few mastering-grade inductor EQ’s, we tweaked and refined the circuit until we were satisfied that it was every bit as good as the expensive brands. The smooth highs, natural mids, and thick, powerful bass that only a good inductor EQ can deliver. Go ahead; shoot it out against your Neve, Massenburg, API, or Tube Tech. We think you’ll be very impressed.

The Micro Clock mk2 is simple and probably even boring looking by most standards. It’s housed in a rugged yet basic 3 inch by 4 inch chassis that provides optimum RF shielding. It has no lights, no frequency display, and none of the visual candy that makes your friends envious. But it does its job incredibly well, and at a price that’s unheard of for this level of performance. It features six selectable output frequencies from 44.1 kHz on up to 192 kHz. Jitter at the crystal oscillator is approximately 1 picosecond RMS, and it’s just under 10 picoseconds RMS at the output. The Micro Clock mk2 is compatible with all modern digital devices that have 75 ohm BNC word clock input.

Black Lion Audio Micro Clock Mk2
Introducing the Micro Clock mk2, a completely revolutionary design in external clocking from Black Lion Audio. The Micro Clock mk2 is a radical departure in design from its predecessor. It features ultra-low jitter third order crystal oscillators with a revolutionary patent-pending high current parallel drive circuit designed to increase the amount of desirable harmonics within the clock’s spectral band. In addition to this, our proprietary noise reduction circuitry dramatically eliminates the unwanted switching harmonics normally found in digital signals. These are musically unrelated signals that create distortion and phase cancellation within the converted audio signal. Because of these technological advances, the Micro Clock mk2 may well be one of the best performing external word clocks within the pro audio market today. Plain, simple, and inexpensive.

Here are the specs:
Output: 3 galvanic-isolated BNC with fixed 75 ohm terminations @ 6 volts peak to peak Power: 9-12 volts DC
Sampling rates: six selectable rates, 44.1 kHz-192 kHz
Jitter: maximum 1 pico second of intrinsic jitter, less than 10 picoseconds of accumulated jitter measured using a delta sigma averaging method.

Black Lion Audio Auteur Preamp. Like all of the other models in our Micro Series, the elements of chassis and presentation are extremely simple, with a minimum of the fluff and promotion that tends to drive up the cost of equipment in our industry. If you’re looking for eye candy and name recognition to dominate your equipment list, this probably isn’t the preamp for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking for the sort of performance normally associated with high-end designs but need to acquire it at a modest price, our mic preamp will make a wise and affordable investment for your home or project studio.

Black Lion Auteur Preamp
There are lots of mic preamps available these days. What makes ours so special? For one, it’s a design that’s somewhat unique in its approach. Being admirers of the fully balanced transformer-less circuits found in highly acclaimed recording consoles, we chose to use a similar topology. We began with a high speed input stage that would pick up lots of detail and nuance, and then followed it with a high current output stage. Circuit headroom is plentiful, and the input stage is very difficult to clip. Because of its fully balanced design, it can handle input signals as large as +15dB with ease. We also like classic transformer-based designs because of the characteristic they lend to the audio signal. Because of this, we added a 600 ohm M-6 silicon steel output transformer to give the audio a thick quality that's reminiscent of a prized vintage preamp. It’s the best of both worlds in our opinion. The preamp is dual channel and features phase, +48vdc phantom power, and 10dB output signal pad.
